As a current sophomore soon to be halfway done with his undergraduate career, I am still grappling with my plan after Loyola and figuring out exactly what I want to do with my life. There are currently 3 possible options of which I will describe below in no particular order. I hope further personal growth and external research of potential aspirations will reveal my future endeavors sooner rather than later.
1. After graduation, I want to attend law school somewhere on the east or west coast. I want to practice law specializing in aid for the disenfranchised or less fortunate, emphasizing social justice in the United States. Immigration, education, and poverty are issues I am particularly interested in and I want to practice for a small firm which personally deals with individual needs. The potential to be a community organizer or politician are included in my aspirations if I earn a JD.
2. After graduation, I want to attend graduate school for higher education. The Jesuit education model and my love for the undergraduate experience inspire me to work on a university's campus for a very long time. The idea of helping college students discover their passions and forming close bonds with undergraduates like the relationships I have formed with administrators is exhilarating.
3. After graduation, I want to take 1-2 years off of school and volunteer with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps or the Peace Corps. I am incredibly blessed to have the resources to attend college as well as have the upbringing and opportunities I enjoy on a daily basis. I feel an intrinsic need to express gratitude for my situation and give back to those we were not born into the same privilege.
