Loyola University Chicago is a private, Jesuit institution in Chicago, Illinois founded in 1870 under the name "St. Ignatius College." Loyola is the largest Jesuit institution in the United States with about 15,000 students enrolled and over 150,000 alumni. The university's athletic teams compete at the NCAA Division 1 level, calling themselves the Ramblers. Loyola is the only Illinois college to have won a national championship in men's basketball. The university has 6 permanent campuses throughout the Chicago metropolitan area as well as 3 permanent overseas campuses in Rome, Italy, Beijing, China, and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. In 2013, Loyola is ranked the 106th best university in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
As mentioned in the Bio section, I am determined to make this school better because I am passionate about its values and thankful for the wonderful situation I am currently experiencing as an undergraduate. My on- and off-campus involvement is extensive because I call Loyola home.
