My Ignite presentation is about Edith Windsor, who is leading the fight against the Defense of Marriage Act. Her case was heard by the Supreme Court starting March 27th as she fights for equal marriage rights in the United States. Edith fell in love with a female over 50 years ago, and stayed by her side even after her partner developed a terminal illness that confined her to a wheelchair. Unfortunately, her partner died in 2007 and the government forced Windsor to pay over $350,000 in inheritance taxes and give back all the gifts her partner ever gave Edith since their marriage was not legally recognized. This is an unspeakable injustice of which thousands of homosexual couples face every year.
My presentation tells Edith Windsor's story through the Ignite style. This is a Powerpoint of 20 slides that automatically changes every 15 seconds to last 5 minutes in all. It is fast-paced, informative, and purposeful in "igniting" a spark within the listener to learn something new or make change. The attachment below is my Ignite presentation; flip through the slides and soak up the pictures to get a sense of Edith Windsor's injustice.
The YouTube video embedded below is an example of a truly awesome Ignite presentation. Watch it in order to understand more fully how an Ignite presentation worls (and how difficult it is to put on) and get inspired by how Matt gets people to dance with him.
