My favorite part of Loyola University Chicago is the university's Jesuit identity. I am not particularly religious, but I deeply value and respect Jesuit principles and apply them to my daily behavior and moral system. The above Tagxedo possesses the most important words I use to describe Loyola; the hand briefly touches on the twelve Jesuit values pertaining to education listed below.
The Pursuit of Excellence
Respect for the World, Its History and Mystery
Learning from Experience
Contemplative Vision Formed by Hope
Development of Personal Potential
Critical Thinking and Effective Communication
Appreciation of Things Both Great and Small
Commitment to Service
Linking Faith with Justice
Special Concern for the Poor and Oppressed
International and Global Perspective
Discerning Mindset: Finding God in All Things
I personally connect with these ideals and find them reflected in my holistic education on a daily basis. Finally, the title of this section is AMDG. These letters are an acronym symbolizing the Latin motto of the Society of Jesus - a Catholic order known for their expertise in education and widespread acceptance. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam translates to English as "For the greater glory of God."
