Through my coursework, on-campus job, and volunteer opportunities, Loyola University Chicago has burned such fierce knowledge, drive, and motivation in me that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
I am currently an undergraduate student at Loyola University Chicago working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics with minors in statistics and actuarial science. Graduating from Loyola University Chicago has been a dream of mine since my junior year of high school. On May 9th of 2015 at 9:30am, this dream will become reality. I have been overwhelmingly blessed with friends, colleagues, professors, and advisors all of whom have made my college experience one that I will never forget.
During my first year at Loyola, I was offered a Customer Service and Data Specialist position in the Center for Tutoring and Academic Excellence. I gladly accepted considering I needed a job, and it seemed the perfect fit! Little did I know, accepting that position would be one of the best decisions I would make during my college career. Throughout my four years working for the CTAE, I have received numerous awards including a promotion to student manager. Most importantly, I was blessed with the opportunity to build relationships with directors, staff members of other departments, and fellow peers who have the same interests and motivations for success that I have. These relationships are ones that will last long after college. Working for the CTAE has helped me build irreplacable problem-solving, computer, and customer service skills that I will apply to all future jobs.
Through Loyola's Center for Experiential Learning, I was able to find organizations that were in need of my help. Two of these included tutoring at the CircEsteem after school program, and the Lawrence Public Library. During my time with these two wonderful organizations, I was able to utilize my leadership and communication skills while working with students ranging from ages 7 to 17. These volunteer positions allowed me to give back to the community that has been so kind to me during the past four years in a way thay I would not have otherwise been able to do.
