1. Who are you doing research with this summer and what kind of research project are you doing?

This summer Professor Margie Roos, Professor Gregory Thielman, Professor Lora Packel, and I are researching the impact of a moderate intensity functional circuit training program on intentional upper extremity movement and walking activity in people with stroke.

2. What do you find fascinating in the research that you’re doing?

What I find most interesting about this research is how the Physical therapy aspect and cognitive aspect relate. I greatly enjoy seeing how our patients improve through the specialized training programs we have developed.

3. What skills are you learning through the USURF experience?

I am enriching my understanding of physical therapy. I am also learning how to conduct beneficial research, which in cause supports my professional development.

4. What are the challenges you’re encountering in your research?

The most difficult aspect of this research so far is due to technical issues. It has been time consuming to develop an accurate and efficient way to enter data for further and easier analysis. Working with the Actigraph device and figuring out how it works and records data has also been challenging.

5. How is your USURF experience impacting the way you view your field?

The USURF has helped me understand the impact of PT research in the development of health and its contribution it may have towards other fields of work.

6. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I hope to one day in the future travel abroad helping others with my degree and understanding of Physical therapy. I am the first generation here in America with my entire family in Poland. I love to travel and observe the different health care systems in place in each new country I visit.
