ELLs, SWD, and S.A.V.E. Action Plans

The Whole Child- " In a democratic society, schools must go beyond teaching fundamental skills".

There are many policies and reforms that have  implemented throughout the years in the public school system I realized that what it all sums up to is the word accountability; accountability, on the part of the administrators, educators, parents and school community as a whole. However, with accountability comes the need for equal educational opportunities, where resources and support is given provided. The question that we should ponder on is,  How are we as a nation begin to identify the factors that contribute to lack of resources for our communities and how are we providing educational opportunities for all students? Studies have showed that there is a correlation between childhood poverty and education. Therefore according to Carmichael (1997), Title 1 Act was established as a compensatory education program to redress the consequences of economic inequality through improving educational opportunities for children living in high-poverty school districts. It can be concluded there that the act was established to provide monies to schools for resources that students, teachers and parents would need. This is one of many changes that have been made to the educational system to provide all students and teachers with the necessary resources needed to educate the WHOLE CHILD.

" Children are moral beings; therefore we must provide character education programs. Children are artistically inclined; therefore we must provide art classes. Children's physical fitness is declining; therefore we must provide physical education and nutrition classes.
