Internship Experience

As you will be able to see from the "Reflections" section, I really enjoyed my time as a Resident Assistant (RA) in the Department of Residence Life at Loyola University Chicago for my internship experience. As a returning RA, I was able to serve as a mentor for new RA's and take on more responsibility within the residence halls (particularly Bellarmine Hall, where I was placed). I gotten to know my floor of 36 residents quite well and have done my best to create informative and interesting bulletin boards - Sustainability Board, Alochol Awareness Board, December Holiday Board, and Getting Involved Board. I have also planned programs with the intention of giving my residents a social and educational experience - Massages, Dinner Party, Boy Meets World Viewing, Hot Spots Tour, Human Bingo, a Debate Watch Party, just to name a few.

My experience has solidified my desire to pursue a career in Higher Education & Student Affairs and become an educator for all students, particularly college students. I have personally grown in this experience through being comfortable with my flaws and embracing my strengths while working to improve as an RA. I am excited to see what the next semester has in store as I finish up this experience.
