A two page summary page that intelligently describes your understanding of the first  2 teaching standards as they relate to
these disabilities. State the standards that you worked on and how the posted tasks contributed to understanding or mastery.

These are the standards:
Standard # 1:  The educator of students with exceptional needs is well versed in the history, philosophy, and foundations of special education as well as the applicability of current laws and contemporary issues in the field and uses this knowledge to enhance educational opportunities for all students.

Standard # 2:  The educator of students with exceptional needs is knowledgeable of human growth and development and uses this knowledge to provide meaningful learning opportunities.

 Follow the format of the following page.

Housekeeping notes: The 2 page paper relating the standards to
the disabilities booklet  must be typed. Margins should be 1 to 1.25 inches.Type on one side of the paper and use space-and-a-half or Double-space. Use 12-point type, using a readable font.   Make sure your name is on each page of your paper (use header or footer), in case pages get separated.

Students will form groups of three students each. Each group will sign up for a topic (see page 5) and provide at least a 30-40 minute presentation to the class. The presentation will include: a general description of the medical condition, impairments and associated disabilities; relevant terminology; and demonstration of an adaptation of an assessment or intervention used with a student with the disability in the classroom. One student may act as the individual with disabilities in order for the group to model the adaptation. Each group will prepare at a minimum a 3-4 page single-spaced handout for the class outlining all the information to be presented. Include the references used. At least three references should be given in addition to the textbook or required readings (websites are not acceptable).
