Richardson Class Rules

Respect for Self and Others:

  • Be prompt - in the room and in your seat when the bell rings. Coming through the door is not being on time.
  • Be prepared - have your materials with you. You will need a calculator, pencil, pen, and paper for Beginning and Advanced Accounting as well as pencil, pen, and paper for BIM, Dollars and Sense, and Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance. I do not have the resources to continually supply your needs.
  • Be on task - participate! The more you participate the more you will get out of the class. Finish assignments before you get to class so that you will be able to ask questions if needed. In BIM, start work immediately upon arriving and do your own work. I will be checking your computer to make sure the work is the same as the paper copy turned in.
  • Be polite - hands, feet, and rude comments should be kept to yourself.
  • All policies found in the Student Handbook will be strictly enforced. The school computer policy found in the Student Handbook will also be strictly enforced.

Responsibilities as a Student:

Assignments will be turned in on time. You will be responsible for making up missed assignments due to excused absences. It is your responsibility to get the assignments turned in at the proper time. You will have 3 school days to turn in missing assignments (not 3 classroom days). If you know you will be absent, ask for the assignment in advance to allow you to keep up with your work.

Exams missed due to an absence will be made up the first class period after and absence or upon prior arrangement. It is my discretion as to whether to give the same exam or a different exam covering the same material. Notice for exams are normally given from 3 to 5 classroom days prior to the exam. If you miss the review for the exam, you will still be expected to take the exam at the scheduled time since advance notification of the exam was given.

Bring books, calculators, pens/pencils, and paper to class daily. Grades may be periodically given for bringing textbooks issued to students to class. Keep assignments, notes, handouts, and other materials used in class. These materials are often used for regular exams as well as the semester exam and often formulate your semester exam study guide.

Be an active participant in class. Class time is not the time for idle gossip and catching up on work in other classes. If there is time remaining at the end of class and all work has been finished in class, I will allow you to work on other course materials but only after you have finished your work for my class.

Grading system:

Class Work, quizzes, and homework 40%, Exams and projects 60%

Disciplinary Actions:

1st offense Verbal warning

2nd offense Private discussion about behavior with student and call to parent

3rd offense Teacher detention after school for 30 minutes

4th offense Office referral

Each offense after the 4th offense will result in an office referral. Serious infractions of the rules will result in immediate office referral and subsequent disciplinary action.
