First Things First: Making the Blueprint

Pencil with a Plan...

When I looked back at my application to participate in the Social Justice Internship program, it was exciting to find that this experience inched me closer to my future goals. Below is a quote from my application that summarizes my passion for social justice and how interning at Catholic Charities Madonna House was a reflection of it.

"While I do not pretend to fix an entire education system, I do believe that if I can influence how an individual feels about their self-worth, I have given hope to them and others that change is possible. In the end, my goal is to be in solidarity with the people that society has labeled “undesirables” and instead help them see that in reality they are heroes. This internship program will equip me with the tools I need to continue freeing myself and others of the limiting paradigms that oppression places on all of us."

Learning Goals Agreement

Upon starting the Social Justice Internship last fall, I typed up this learning contract based on the expectations I had for the year. Although not all of these goals were met, I am glad I have this document to mark the starting point of my internship journey

Intro Reflection

At the beginning of the spring semester, our class completed a reflection detailing new learning objectives for the year and specifying what we can leave behind at our site to leave our mark.
