I believe that every child should have the same equal opportunity to learn even though every child may not be the same. I understand that every child has their very own learning style, and as a teacher I want to be open and cater to each child's needs. Having a very personal relationship with your students and their parents makes all the difference in a classroom. I have an open door policy, and I want students as well as parents to keep communication lines open if there is ever a problem. As a teacher, you have to be very observant of everything going on in your classroom; this means taking notice whenever a child's behavior or attitude changes so that we can figure out where this problem is coming from, and help them to get back on track. I don't believe that we as teachers should use a direct teaching method, but rather be a facilitator to our students. I have a very laid-back style of teaching, where I treat my children as equal partners in my classroom, however, I have high standards and high expectations. I do many different hands-on activities in my classroom and it takes attention and respect for these activities to take place. I will never let a child interfere with another child's ability to learn. I learn something from my students every single day, and because of them I am reminded, even on a bad day, why I am a teacher.
