Michelangelo Fall Paintings Rationale

Context:  I developed this age appropriate art lesson for my sixth grade students at Westwood Elementary School during my student teaching semester in the Fall 2008 semester.

Impact:  I originally developed this lesson so that my older students could have a special "Fall Themed" craft like the rest of the elementary school.  I took this chance for my students to also look a few pictures of Michelangelo's work and learn about his techniques.  I hope that my students have seen and appreicated some ancient and famous pieces of art.

Alignment:

Standard 6 Indicator 2:  I have met this standard by having an acquaintace with major works of art from different historical periods, and I have shared these with my students through the use of PowerPoint Presentations and having them try some of Michelangelo's personal methods.
