Moon Journal Rationale
Context: This was completed as a part of GS 4401-434 for Jeff Goodman in the spring semester of 2008. I was required to look out at the moon every other couple of days and note the size and shape of the moon as well as its relative position to other things around me.
Impact: This would be a great project for students in my future classroom to do because it really shows them first hand the phases of the moon, and explains the rotations of both the earth and the moon. I know this project finally put the phases of the moon in perspective for me, which is something that I never fully understood.
Alignment:
Standard 2 Indicator 2: I have met this standard by observing the phases of the moon over a period of time and understanding that the phases are changed by the relationship of the position of the sun and the moon.
Standard 3 Indicator 3: I have met this standard by having knowledge of the basic earth sciences such as the rotation of the earth and the revolution around the moon and the sun.
Standard 12: I have met this standard by integrating arts into my classromm's curriculum.
