Video Rationale

Context: I made a video with my group members, Meghan McLaughlin and Regan House, using a video camera about the book, "Knuffle Bunny" by Mo Willems. We spent three hours the afternoon of October 1st, 2007, shooting all of our video footage. We spent four other following class periods to edit our footage and keep the clips we wanted, and put them in order. On October 17th, 2007, we spent the entire class period extracting the sounds on our video and replacing them with music and sounds of our choice, as well as finishing our credits. We made this entire video using iMovie on the Macintosh computers, and we also looked up music clips on the internet.

Impact: iMovie would be a great project for my students to use because it was a very simple way to make a video, which I was happily surprised by, and it also helps them with their reading by letting them interpret books that they are reading in class. This gives students a chance to be creative and show some of their personality through their projects. This also gives students who have a hard time learning, a new and inventive way to learn reading concepts, as well as technological concepts.

Alignment:

CD DPI Standard 6, Indicator 1: This helps teachers to know more than just mainstream information by being creative and having them act out a story where they can sing or dance, on their video which they make in iMovie. This has teachers learn the correct vocabulary when editing and directing a video.

NETS-T I-B: This standard will be met because I now know how to use video cameras and iMovie, then I will continue to grow and make more intricate videos that will be more detailed.

NETS-II-D: This standard was met by me using iMovie and the video camera, which I had no knowledge of before to learn how to make an iMovie as a finished product.

NETS-T VI-B: iMovie is a great way to meet this standard because by using this program students from all various backgrounds and all capabilities are able to put their personality into their projects. Students can all learn different things about one another through using this program.
