2) JOURNAL: Look up the term "retrospective". How is B.A.T. an example of one?

3) Choose a passage from the novel when the narrator shares his inner feelings and ideas with the reader. What is learned from the passage about the narrator? In your opinion, is it important to the story or not? Be prepared to discuss in class.

Read p. 26-44. [PAGE 35 IN PINK BOOK]. JOURNAL: Compare the writing style of BAT to other novels read this year. What is the tone of the novella (HINT: examine specific diction)? How does Capote convey it? Come prepared to discuss. 

Course 8: Read p. 44-63 (stop at "I went straight upstairs...") PINK BOOK: p. 35-60. Make note of two examples of Capote's use of the colon and the dash. What is the intended effect of his colon usage? Come prepared to discuss.
