Raazi is the true story of Sehmet, a Muslim Indian woman following her father's footsteps and was taught to be a spy working for the Indian government during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. She is married to a Pakistani military officer and has to spy on his father, who is the Major General and is in charge of the defense forces of Pakistan. In this heartbreaking film, Sehmet has to decide between her love for her country or her love for her family.
This is my favorite Indian film because it is based on a true story and the book "Calling Sehmet." Even though I am Pakistani and this movie defends the side of India, I can not help but love Sehmet's character. In the beginning of the film she is shown as very innocent, and throughout the film she has to do things that she never would have done, soley because she is loyal to her country. The beautiful cinematography of Pakistan and the amazing soundtrack gave me a feeling of patriotism. This is one of the best Indian movies I have ever seen and it makes me wonder the lines people cross for the sake of their country.
The word "raazi" means content or satisfied in Hindi/Urdu.
