Workplace Readiness Lesson Plans

The first workplace readiness lesson plan integrates tasks 8, 9, 14, and 20 into the career unit. Students research an animal related career and present the information to the class using a PowerPoint presentation. They also complete a career portfolio. The presentation assignment requires students to use the internet appropriately (task 20), search for and read information on their assigned career (task 9), and present the information to the other students (task 8). The career portfolio requires students to complete a résumé (task 14) and take notes while the other students present their animal related career (tasks 8 and 9). The career unit lesson plan is attached below and student materials are attached to Artifact 20.

The second workplace readiness lesson plan integrates tasks 3, 10 and 11 into the physical exam lab. Students are placed in groups and given a list of animals to exam together. The students are required to work as a team (task 3). They help each other by safely holding the animals using the techniques just learned (tasks 3 and 11). They must examine all parts of the animals and determine whether the part is normal or whether there are abnormalities present (task 10). The physical exam lab lesson plan is attached below and student materials are attached to Artifact 15.
