INTASC —the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium — has established a set of core standards that "outline what all teachers across all content and grade levels should know and be able to do to be effective in today's learning contexts" (http://www.ccsso.org/) . These standards delineate essential knowldge, performances and critical dispositions for teachers. The full text of the standards and the indicators for each standard can be found here. The 2011 version of the ten InTASC standards are grouped into four categories:
- The Learner and Learning
- Content Knowledge
- Instructional Practice
- Professional Responsibility
St. Bonaventure University's education program is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions called for in the INTASC standards. Each page in this portfolio provides evidence of how I meet these standards based on my work during my teacher preparation program, my internships, student teaching, employment and volunteer activities. Use the drop-down menu under the INTASC standards button in the menu above to access pages for each of the ten standards.
