Standard 1: Content Knowledge: Candidate demonstrates knowledge of major mathematics concepts, algorithms, procedures, applications in varied contexts, and connections within and among mathematical domains (Number, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Probability, Calculus, and Discrete Mathematics) as outlined in the NCTM CAEP Mathematics Content for Secondary.
Artifact 1: Mathematical Senior Comprehensive Project
In order to graduate with a double major in both Adolescence Education and Mathematics I was required to complete a Mathematics Senior Comprehensive project to showcase what I have learned during my time as a Mathematics major. During my Mathematics Senior Comprehensive class I worked with a Mathematics professor to develop and write a Mathematics paper on a topic of my choice. The topic I chose was the Mathematics behind coronavirus and how mathematicians calculate disease transmission and other mathematical topics relating to diseases. This demonstrates my knowledge of Math because through this semester long paper I worked with many mathematical concepts, facts, online math resources, and mathematical procedures to be able to understand and write this paper. Along with a paper I was also required to present my information to the whole mathematics staff via Zoom so they could see my information and understand my senior comprehensive project.
Artifact 2: Mathematical Coursework
During my time at St. Bonaventure University I have completed all the required mathematics classes to be graduating with a double major of Adolescence Education and Mathematics. I have taken classes in Calculus, Statistics, Geometry, Algebra, Probability, Discrete Mathematics, etc to fulfill my degree.
