"Arriving at One Goal is the Starting Point to Another"

My name is Jensen Schwarzbach. I am currently a junior at Loyola University Chicago, where I am studying Biology with a focus in pre-medicine. The organization at Lurie Children's Hospital is especially important to me because I spent most of my childhood and years to follow in the Chicago area at Children's Memorial, the former hospital. When a specific organization goes above and beyond to make your own medical story a success, it truly makes you want to give back. I did not only choose to volunteer here as part of a class assignment, but mainly because I want to make a positive impact on the lives and health of children which can be reflected in my own life. This experience of engaging in the broader community has not only confirmed my career path, but has also allowed me hands on experience that will contribute to my future endeavors in the medical field. Ultimately, I aspire to be a pediatric physician or physician's assistant with hopes of specializing in cardiology. Being able to continue my involvement at Lurie's not only as a volunteer, but someday as a physician, would be ideal.

My personal statement:  Applying for enrollment at physician assistant or medical school that will enable me to utilize my background in biological sciences, conversational Spanish fluency, and 100+ hours of clinical experience to pursue a career as a pediatric physician or physician assistant
