How YOU can make a difference

"We may not change the world in one day, but we still can change some things, today."

-Michael Jackson

1.) Sign up to become a volunteer at the hospital.

Must be at least 16 years old, shifts are usually 3 hours long, and they are very flexible with students and their academic schedules. Still have questions... click here

2.) Advocate for the children

You can do this by writing to your local/state/federal legislators to promote children's health.

If you want to receive legistative action updates you may e-mail Jill Fraggos

3.) Make a donation

Any contribution makes a difference. Lurie Children's ensures that these donations go towards the highest quality of care for the patients.

4.) Support Companies that Support Children's Health

Examples include Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Cosco, and Speedway. These retailers partner with the Chicago Miracle Network to sell "miracle balloons" for a $1. Each $1 raised in the Chicago area will directly stay in Chicago and benefit Lurie Children's Hospital.

5.) Attend or Plan an Event

There are several events throughout the year that take place in the Chicago area that one can actively participate in to benefit Lurie's.

A few of their most popular events include the Children's Marathon Team, Chicago Dance Marathon, and Children's Ball.

6.) Take part in the Tribute Program

If you want to celebrate an important milestone or memoralize the life of a loved one, a Tribute gift is a great way to do so.

The family or individual you are giving this gift to can be notified personally if preferred.

7.) Make a Gift through Your Estate

Charitable gifts have played a significant role in the lives of patients and their families for over a century here at Lurie Children's (formerly Children's Memorial).

"An estate gift is more than a financial decision. It is a personal statement about who you are and what you care about in life."1

8.) "Shop for a Cause"

Who doesn't love shopping? Well now your shopping can be meaningful. All proceeds benefit patients and their parents.

Take a look at our online store where you can find an assortment of mugs, hats, clothing, children's expressions, etc.

9.) Join the Circle of Friends

The "Circle of Friends" is the name given to the group of people who play a significant contribution in the planning of fundraisers and events.

These fundraisers and events support and promote awareness about children's health issues.

10.) Spread the Word

If this particular volunteer service may not be something you are interested in, spread the word to friends and family who may be interested.

It is one of the most rewarding experiences to be involved in. Any effort is greatly appreciated.
