The incorporation of literature into a math lesson opens up a door of discovery for students.  I have created two math based literature lessons.  Using the book Inch Worm by Leo Lionni, students are encouraged to explore measurement by using the inch as a tool.  Math Curse by Jon Scieszka is a wonderful book that helps students to realize that math surrounds them on a daily basis.  By using literature to introduce math concepts, students are eased into math, rather that lectured to out of a text book.
