Students will have specific classroom situations on index cards and they will be asked to take care of the situation using the Fred Jones method. · It seems that every time you turn around, the same students are talking to their neighbor. They have been told that there are appropriate times to talk and they are not conforming. What could you do to get the students to cease talking and even eliminate the problem? · According to Dr. Jones, an average classroom spends 45%-50% of their time off task. Give three techniques that we can do as teachers to prevent our classrooms from falling into that statistic. · Preferred Activity Time (PAT) can be a very useful tool. Should we insist students use this time for educational activities only? Or should we allow them to have some “free time?” Why or why not? · Give an example of a specific rule and a general rule. Come up to the board and draw a path that minimizes steps and reaches the most students on the seating chart.
