• You have a student in your class who is continually playing with objects in his/her desk.  It is not disrupting the rest of the class, but you know it is happening and the student knows you know.  The student also knows that you do not make big scenes about things, and this is why he/she continues.  What could you do to get this student to stop playing in their desk without calling attention to the situation or disrupting the lesson?

·        It seems that every time you turn around, the same students are talking to their neighbor.  They have been told that there are appropriate times to talk and they are not conforming.  What could you do to get the students to cease talking and even eliminate the problem?

·        According to Dr. Jones, an average classroom spends 45%-50% of their time off task.  Give three techniques that we can do as teachers to prevent our classrooms from falling into that statistic.

·        Preferred Activity Time (PAT) can be a very useful tool.  Should we insist students use this time for educational activities only?  Or should we allow them to have some “free time?” Why or why not?
