My Introduction to Education class has been a very worthwhile experience, which introduced me to the profession of teaching. As a college student, this class helped me to look at the profession of teaching from the teacher’s point of view. I have learned about so many different aspects of teaching, from classroom management to controversial issues like merit pay and standardized testing. Learning about the different learning styles of kinesthetic, visual and auditory was inspiring and helped me to form my philosophy of education. I wrote a research paper on the effects of home schooling and wrote my first critical analysis, on the book The Water is Wide by, Pat Conroy. My dream to become a teacher has been strengthened by the service learning time I spent in the classroom and the examination of the profession.
