Newsletter Rationale

Context:

This Newsletter was created in the Spring Semester of 2008.  This assignment was created for the class Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching (CI 3750) for my Elementary Education Degree through Appalachian State University’s Off Campus Program at the Hickory Metro Higher Education Center in Catawba County.  The professor for this class was Jeff Goodman.  This newsletter was created with pictures from a digital camera, pictures scanned with a scanner, and Microsoft Publisher.

Impact:

This assignment will be a great and useful tool when I finish my degree and begin teaching, as well as during Student Teaching.  I have created a newsletter to tell my students about myself and being in their classroom.  This newsletter will be an excellent tool to communicate with the parents of my students.  Through this connection, I will communicate with parents about class, and they will communicate with me about their child, and also communicate with their child about school.

I met this standard by creating a newsletter that will help me to communicate with the parents and guardians of my students.  I can continue to build on this communication with the parents and guardians by sending the newsletter out to the students and parents frequently.

I met this standard by creating a standard format for a newsletter that I can use over and over by just changing the information as needed.  This will help to increase the productivity of the newsletter because it is ready to use.  This will help to make my job easier.

I met this standard by creating the newsletter that will let me communicate with the students and parents of my class.    This computer program that I have saved is a type of technology that I can use to communicate with them.
