The Outsiders was written by S.E. Hinton. Her full name is Susan Eloise Hinton. She changed it because she often wrote her stories from a boy’s perspective and she wanted to make sure her work was not criticized against because she is a girl. She is famous for writing adolescent literature and is often referred to as the “voice of the youth”. After her son was born, Hinton wrote a few children’s books. She enjoys horse-back riding and walking her dogs in her spare time.
