This paper discusses public school funding through taxation and how those funds are distributed throughout educational institutions at federal, state, and local levels. The focus area for this paper is the funding of public schools in the State of Texas.
This assignment demonstrates Arizona Professional Administrative Standard 1 with Performance Indicator 4 by placing emphasis on how taxation for educational issues affects schools and the community. Arizona Professional Administrative Standard 2, Performance Indicators 2 and 8, are also met through this paper and discussion about developing effective strategies for policy and working effectively with policy makers.
ISLLC Standard 6 is met in through this assignment’s examination of laws related to education and schooling and political and economic processes that impact schools. ISLLC Standard 6 states a school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by understanding, responding to, and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context. This assignment has developed my knowledge and understanding of: the role of public education in developing and renewing a democratic society and an economically productive nation; the law as related to education and schooling; the political, social, cultural and economic systems and processes that impact schools; and models and strategies of change and conflict resolution as applied to the larger political, social, cultural and economic contexts of schooling. This assignment has also strengthened my resolve to actively participate in the political and policy-making arena in the service of education.
This paper presents an overview of the school budgetary process, specifically focused on the roles of the superintendent and the school board, with a brief discussion on site-based decision making. This assignment focused on Arizona Professional Administrative Standard 1. Performance Indicator 6 is met through setting budgetary priorities regarding student, faculty, and staff needs. This assignment also meets Arizona Professional Administrative Standard 2 which calls for an understanding of the social and legal aspects of the community. Performance Indicator 1 is met through developing "procedures for defining mutual expectations." Performance Indicator 2 requires formulating and implementing organizational policy funding practices.

Finally, in the area of performances, this paper focuses on two competencies: "the framework of policies, laws, and regulations enacted by local, state, and federal authorities", and "public policy is shaped to provide quality education for students."
