In this paper I examined the emergency procedure manual for Hondo ISD, which includes Meyer Elementary School, and compared the procedures with the Texas School Safety Center’s recommendations for best practices. The manual was prepared by district personnel this summer, and is up-to-date in using all recommended best practices, but because it is new there are minor conflicts between what is posted on the website and what is contained in the manual. Therefore this report includes recommendations for improving access to the emergency procedures for parents and community members.
