TPE 3- Interpretation and Use of Assessments

Notebook 2 (Lg.)

I use various methods of assessment to monitor student learning.  During lessons, I rely on informal monitoring techniques and student feedback to oral probes.  Students also complete one informal quiz per a week on topics covered during the previous few lessons.  These quizzes allow me to monitor what students topics students have mastered and what topics I may need to review.  I am including an example of a weekly quiz below.  Furthermore, students are given the opportunity to create their own assessments for review.  I am also including an example of a student-generated review quiz below.

Additionally, students are formally assessed through Chapter Tests and Group Projects.  Chapter Tests are designed to monitor the culmulative knowledge the student has gained at the end of the unit.  Group Projects are designed as an alternative form of assessment where students can collaborate to present their expertise on a certain topic.  Students are assessed by their colleagues according to a rubric during these presentations in order to maintain class participation.  I am including an example of a Chapter Test and Group Project.
