The instructional planning related to teaching the curriculum for Environmental Science includes presenting scientific, social, and political issues both globally and locally. During each unit, students begin learning about environmental issues related to their local area. Students build upon this knowledge as they move on to global issues. Through scaffolding, students are able to apply their local understanding to abstract international environmental issues. Additionally, instructional planning includes viewing environmental issues from a range between microscopic to macroscopic perspectives. Students will explore both the chemical components that impact local environments to international policy that impacts global environment.
I am attaching a unit plan on biomes that emphasizes scaffolding and relating knowledge on local environment to global issues.
