As can be seen from the bar graph in this section, the class average from pre to post test increased about 34 percent. Of course this does not really reflect whether or not each student grew, but as an overall average figure, the class as a whole improved.

Gains on Individual Questions

The bar graph in this section represents the average scores out of 3 on the pre and post assessments. As can be seen from the graph, the average score on every question increased from pre to post assessment. On question 5 in fact, every student answered correctly. This question required students to write an equation in slope-intercept form when given the slope and y-intercept. Writing equations like this was something that met the objective of writing equations from key information, but was also something we did in every lesson. I was great to see that all of my students knew how to do this. The average on every question except for number 7 was two or greater. Students struggled with number 7 because they had to solve for missing parts of a linear equation as well as write the equation from key information. My students seemed to struggle with multiple steps, but still when looking at the raw data, only 2 students actually received less than a score of 2, but one student did not even attempt this question and received a 0 which brings down the class average. 

 

 

(Something to note: Because there were only 8 questions on the pre assessment, but 9 questions on the post assessment I aligned question 2 of the post assessment with question 1 of the pre-assessment, and left out question 1 of the post assessment for this analysis. Question 1 and 2 of the post assessment covered the same objective which is why I was able to do this.)
