I.           Goals

A.          Standards

1.                      SL.PS2.IL.01:  Demonstrate understanding of main ideas from short, simple conversations, narratives and presentations on a limited range of familiar topics in everyday situations.

2.                      SL.PS2.IS.01:  Use memorized phrases, sentences and questions to express ideas or obtain information on a limited range of topics in everyday situations.

 

B.         Work Sample Goals

1.                      Students will be able to use the TE-form to give simple commands.

2.                      Students will be able to use the TE-form to narrate a sequence of events.

3.                      Students will be able to use the TE-form to ask permission.

C.          Objectives

                     1.       Understanding

                     a.  Students will be able to understand why and when the TE-form of Japanese is used.

                     b.  Students will be able to understand simple commands directed at them.

                     c.  Students will be able to understand the sequence of a series of events when narrated to them.

                     d.  Students will be able to understand sentences used to ask them for permission to do something.

                     2.       Skills

                     a.  Students will be able to conjugate level 1 verbs using the TE-form.

                     b.  Students will be able to conjugate level 2 verbs using the TE-form.

                     c.  Students will be able to use level 1 and 2 verbs in a sentence to issue a command.

                     d.  Students will be able to use level 1 and 2 verbs in a sentence to talk about up to 3 activities they will do.

                     e.  Students will be able to use level 1 and 2 verbs in a sentence to talk about up to 3 activities they have done.

                     f.  Students will be able to use level 1 and 2 verbs in a question to ask permission to do everyday tasks such as borrowing a pencil.

                     g.  Students will be able to use the TE-form to conjugate commands and ask permission to facilitate a conversation in which they

   are shopping for clothing and jewelry items.

 

In order to help students be able to meet the standards described in the “standards” section above, specifically the ability to understand, express ideas, and obtain limited information about everyday situations, these skills, once internalized by the students, will be used to navigate a conversation in which they are speaking to a store clerk while shopping for everyday items.
