Drugs

Drugs are a Huge Problem

By: Ashley Patrick

Hi my name is Ashley. I live in Philly. I’m pretty sure you know Philly is a highly rated drug area. They say they’re trying to stop the distribution. But they are not doing much about it.

Drugs are so easy to get your hands on. Even kids as young as 5 years old have access to drugs. They are very dangerous. I want more people to get involved with anti- drug prevention programs. We need to keep our streets safe. Not only for us, but also for our future.

The No-Touch Rule

No-Touching Rule

11-20-07

Imagine you are walking in the hall way and you see you best friend then you give him/her a hug and a kiss in the cheek and the security guard tells you “go to the principal of office”. You looking at him like what him like what I do and he say” You were touching someone”. Wouldn’t that be crazy?

In Kilmer Middle School in Vienna, Virginia they have a strict no-Touching rule. You see kids giving hugs and kisses in the cheek even hand shakes but sometimes some kids don’t like to be touch. For a fact some kids poke other kids just playing around and it turns into a fight. Across the country, students, parents, and schools are debating what kinds of touching are inappropriate. How would you feel if this rule was imposed in your school?

People that Die Because of a Gun

People that die because of a gun

Why are people dieing because of gun violence? Please stop the violence; it starts with me; it starts with you. Put the guns down; other people have to live in this world. Why is it that people shoot kids by accident trying to get their revenge on someone else when you can just settle it like adults? Why are teens and some grown-ups shooting cops because they think that they are coming to get you and really, they can just be minding their own business? Just put the gun down and you won’t take away someone’s life and you won’t get yours taken away because of a gun. Stop it. Kids play on these streets and they might do wrong, but why should they lose their life because of a gun? Drop it and leave it; stop the violence. Don’t make more teddy bears on the corners, more people in jail, and the family on the news because of the killing of this person. They say how the person was, but that person won’t be seeing the light of day again because he will be six inches in the ground. We all know you are going to be behind bars or get your life taken because you took someone else’s life or family member’s life, so just don’t buy a gun and you won’t kill someone with it. They say the good die first and the bad stay living, so don’t make the choice of taking someone’s life because one day it could be mine, so leave the gun and live your life.

Stop Child Abuse

Child abuse

According to the national council of child abuse and family violence, “child abuse is any behavior directed toward a child by a parent, guardian, care giver, and other family member, or adult that endangers or impairs a child’s physical or emotional health and development”.

We at Mariana Bracetti Academy have come to you today to stop all the child abuse. These kids are abused in every type of way and are suffering. When they need help they often won’t tell anybody because they are too scared to tell somebody.

Child abuse is very bad. Almost all kids from Mariana Bracetti Academy said that child abuse is bad. We found out that 2.5 million children are abused in America and hundreds of children die from it each year. Mostly the adults that abuse the kids runaway and usually the kids that have been abused by those adults come to the police. Really none of the kids talk because they think that they are going to be abused but, they will be safe if they just say what happens around them.

Usually all these marks of abuse are located on the nose, face, ribs, legs, arms, mouth, eyes and back. The injuries are made by belts, cigarettes, electric cords, and the things that can hurt them. We hope that if whoever is reading this knows someone who is being abused they will make a DIFFERENCE and contact 215-683-6100 or go to 1515 Arch Street Philadelphia pa 19102 to report the abuse.
