Attached are my observation hours for EDR 551. I spent 15 hours of tutoring (and 15 hours of preparation) at New Rising Star School in Birmingham, under the direction of Ms. Stormi Boddie, tutoring 2 individuals. What I think was educational about this observation was the effectiveness of individualized instruction. Within only a few sessions, I was able to help 2 students significantly increase their math and reading skills.
Attached are my practicum hours for EHS 566. I spent 60+ hours at Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, under the direction of Angela Duke. The experience was eye-opening into my strengths and weaknesses as a pre-teacher: my strength in the content area and how I have much room for improvement in classroom management, especially With-it-ness.
Attached are my observation hours for EHS 600. I spent 35 hours at Indian Springs School in Birmingham, under the direction of Mrs. Sevim Whitaker, and under the classroom instruction of Mrs. Crittenden, Geller, and McBride. The class was an English as a Second Language course with a mixture of Chinese, Korean, & Turkish students. What I think was the most educative aspect of this observation was how to teach despite the lack of a common language. It taught that a teacher must be able to think "on their feet," and deal with a myriad of complications without notice.
