This is from the supervisor I had when working as a Music & Movement Specialist for Child Care Resource and Referral, of Henderson County, at the Children and Family Resource Center. It was written right before I moved to Florida.
This is from the Dean of Academics at St. John's Episcopal school, where I worked for a whole school year as the Music Teacher and as an assistant to the VPK teacher. I quit working in order to study full time at FIU.
Photos and description of the March 17, 2012 Florida Grand Opera's "Read Along, Sing a Song" community program event. I uploaded this as a sample of my work.
This article is in Spanish, because at the time I was serving the Hispanic population in Henderson County. I was a certified PAT bilingual parent educator and the photo was taken at a parent workshop titled "Sing to Your Baby". In the workshop I encouraged parents to sing to their babies and toddlers in their native tongue - Spanish - and I taught them several age-appropriate songs and movements.
See pdf file regarding the newspaper article. I chose this picture because I am in an action pose and the adults that are participating are also in action and smiling. The workshop was successful and it was about music. Even though my job was not a musician's job I found opportunities to educate parents on the importance of offering their children early musical experiences.
