During the month of May, the following evidence/forms are required:
May Professional Development Focus:
In the month of May, a date will be selected for Resident Educators and Mentors to share their progress and growth throughout Year 1 of the RE Program. During this time, the RE will share completed the Formative Progress Review documentation and any contents of the Taskstream portfolio for Year 1. The RE and RE Mentor will meet (possibly with a district administrator) to sign the FPR and complete an "exit" interview and celebration session to validate completion of all Year 1 Resident Educator Program requirements.
The Taskstream Platform allows for easy sharing of learning and growth in Year 1 with a variety of formats, in the event that the Resident Educator chooses to share his/her work with other colleagues/professionals.
The Taskstream portfolio and ALL the contents located therein are the property of the Resident Educator. In th event that the Resident Educator Mentor or Program Coordinator or District Administrator would like to obtain or use any portion of the Resident Educator's work contained in this portfolio, written permission must be obtained.
The ONE Exception is that a printed, signed copy of the Formative Progress Review completed by each Resident Educator in Year 1 of the RE Program will be filed in the Resident Educator's personnel file as evidence to validate completion of all Year 1 RE program requirements.
It is a requirement to complete 2-4 Collaborative logs or journal entries per month
The first shared Collaborative Log (Standard, Monthly Log) is the primary Collaborative log. The Standard Monthly Collaborative Logs are interactive and can be completed electronically. The additional, alternate logs can be used as needed in place of the Standard, Monthly at any time. The alternate logs are not currently interactive, but can be completed manually and scanned into Taskstream. It is recommended (but not required) for each Resident Educator to complete at least one of each of the Alternate Collaborative Logs throughout the course of completing their Year 1 requirements.
In lieu of the Collaborative Log, the Resident Educator and Mentor may elect to develop and complete a reflective journal entry together 2-4 times per month.
The Formative Progress Review is the culmination of the Year 1 Resident Educator journey. It is meant to be a reflection on the work and growth you have experienced, as an educator in your first year of practice. The Resident Educator is required to provide written responses to given prompts. Once the RE prompts have been written and provided to the Mentor, the Mentor also provides written responses and records these responses directly on the FPR document. It is optional for the Program Coordinator to provide written comments on the FPR. All sections of the FPR must be marked as "complete" in order to verify successful completion of Year 1 RE Requirements.
Formative Progress Reviews must be completed by the end of May and will be reviewed and shared with the Resident Educator Program Coordinator and possibly additional District Administrators (which may include, but is not limited to: The Human Resources Director, The Superintendent, The Curriculum Director, The Director of Pupil Services, The Director of Special Education and/or Building Principals/Assistant Principals etc...). While the Formative Progress Review Document remains the personal and private property of the Resident Educator, a signed copy documenting successful completion of Year 1 requirements will be maintained in the RE's personnel file as part of the "exit interview" process. This document may not be photocopied, shared or archived in any other manner without written permission from the Resident Educator. Any permissions granted are strictly voluntary.
The FPR and contents of this portofolio cannot be used for evaluative purposes. However, each Resident Educator has the option to elect to share the FPR and contents of this portfolio with administrators as he/she chooses. Successful completion of the FPR is mandatory by the Ohio Department of Education in order to successfully complete requirements for Year 1 of the Resident Educator Program. Once the FPR has been completed, shared and reviewed, the Program Coordinator will verify successful completion of Year 1 to ODE and enter this information into CORE. This must be done NO LATER THAN June 30th of each academic year.
Attached, please find the "Authentic Evidence" checklist to complete for the end of Year 1 of Residency. It is recommended that each Resident Educator upload and save several pieces of evidence related to each of the 7 Educator Standards in his/her Taskstream portfolio. (Folders provided for each of the Standards were created for use at the beginning of the year).
Many have found it helpful to type a brief decsription of each uploaded piece of evidence and how this evidence connects specifically to the educator standards being addressed. We are currently working to make the document more interactive and user-friendly.
This checklist is to be comepleted by the Resident Educator verifying that he/she has uploaded artifacts for each standard throughout the year in Spring.
