Below, you will find a Collaborative Log guidance document and a few "exemplar" Year 1 Residency Collaborative Logs to use as references.  Some important things to note are:

• dialogue is centered around the Resident Educator's own insights into what is "going well" and what the RE's individual "challenges" and "concerns" are.
• issues the RE would like to focus on...keeping the work related to the seven Educator Standards (listed on the left-hand side of the Collaborative Log) as much as possible.
• In the second portion of the Collaborative Log work, the RE generates "action" steps that he/she will take between meeting dates and also the "mentor's next steps."  These can serve as useful reminders and/or simply be used as a "to do" list format to keep REs on track with completing requirements.
• Many REs find it helpful to revisit the most recent Collaborative Log from the previous.  Spending 5 minutes at the beginning of each collaborative meeting to review progress toward the actions listed on the previous log (or another reflective journal format developed by the RE and Mentor) can improve the collaborative process.

By continually revisiting "suggested" work at the beginning of each month in your Taskstream portfolio, you will set yourself up for success with meeting ODE and District requirements for your Residency Program.  This reflective way of working seeks to move beyond a traditional "this is how we do things..." style of mentoring that is focused on the "logistics" of teaching toward independent reflection on teaching practice, intentional instructional design and delivery, authentic assessment, analysis of student learning and increased knowledge of content in order to improve student achievement.  This ongoing work in the Orange School District Residency Program is directly aligned with your OTES requirements (and rubrics) in order to support you in this area as well.

It is a requirement to complete 2-4 Collaborative logs or Interactive Journal entries per month

    If using the provided Collaborative Log as your main source of documentation:

1. Click on the Collaborative Log link below each time you need to complete a Collaborative Log. 
2. "Save as" and rename with your initials or name and the date of your meeting (ie. MT 8/29/16 etc...)
3. Complete the log with your Mentor 2-4 times per month.
4. Save a copy of each of your Collaborative Logs in your Residency Year 1 folder.
5. When you have completed your 2-4 Collaborative Logs each month, attach each log and click "submit" for evaluation in Taskstream.
6. Evaluation is merely provided as "met" or "not met" and serves to help document completion of program requirements on an ongoing basis.

The first shared Collaborative Log (Standard, Monthly Log) is the primary Collaborative log.  The Standard Monthly Collaborative Logs are interactive and can be completed electronically.  The additional, alternate logs  can be used  as needed in place of the Standard, Monthly logs at any time.  The alternate logs are not currently interactive, but can be completed manually and scanned into Taskstream.  It is recommended (but not required) for each Resident Educator to explore at least one of the Alternate Collaborative Logs throughout the course of completing their Year 1 requirements.

 If using an Interactive Journal Entry as your main source of documentation:

1. Work with your Mentor to create an Interactive Journal style of format that works for you.  Be sure to note "date" of meeting and some indication of what collaboration occured.  The format can certainly evolve or change over time. It will still be important to keep track of some "action steps" at least peridocally, for both the Resident Educator and Mentor.
2. If using a consistent format, "Save as" and rename the reflection with your initials or name and the date of your meeting (ie. MT 8/29/15 etc...) each week.
3. Complete the interactive journal entry with your Mentor 2-4 times per month.
4. Save a copy of each of your Interactive Journal entries in your Residency Year 1 folder.
5. When you have completed your 2-4 Interactive Journal entries each month, attach all entries and click "submit" for evaluation in Taskstream.
6. Evaluation is merely provided as "met" or "not met" and serves to help document completion of program requirements on an ongoing basis.
