In the month of May, a date will be selected for Resident Educators and Mentors to come together to share and examine work to "celebrate" the growth made throughout the year. It is the expectation that ALL requirements (including the Finalized FPR) will be completed and ready for review by this date. Each Resident Eduactor (and Mentor) should be prepared to share his/her work/portfolio with any of the following people: Resident Educator Program Coordinator, Director of Human Resources or other Orange School District Administrators (including Principals, Superintendent, Curriculum Director etc...).
A completed copy of the Formative Progress Review with responses from the Resident Educator and Mentor must be provided for this session. It is our hope that REs and Mentors will be proud to share the exntensive work completed throughout the year. However, all contents of the electronic and printed portfolios are the sole property of the Resident Educator. None of the materials and collaborative conversations collected and shared throughout the process can be used for evaluative purposes unless the Resident Educator elects to do so. The Resident Educator may share the contents of his or her portfolio in whatever manner he or she chooses, but is in no way obligated to share printed copies of the materials contained in his/her portfolio, other than the finalized FPR.
The Task Stream Platform allows for easy sharing with a variety of individuals in a variety of formats. Demonstration of these formats will be shared at (or prior to) this "celebration" meeting.
It is a requirement to complete 1-3 Collaborative logs or journal entries per month
The first shared Collaborative Log (Standard, Monthly Log) is the primary Collaborative log. The Standard Monthly Collaborative Logs are interactive and can be completed electronically. The additional, alternate logs can be used as needed in place of the Standard, Monthly at any time. The alternate logs are not currently interactive, but can be completed manually and scanned into Taskstream. It is recommended (but not required) for each Resident Educator to complete at least one of each of the Alternate Collaborative Logs throughout the course of completing their Year 2 requirements.
The Formative Progress Review is the culmination of the Year 2 Resident Educator journey. It is meant to be a reflection on the work and growth you have experienced, as an educator in your second year of practice. The Resident Educator is required to provide written responses to given prompts. Once the RE prompts have been written and provided to the Mentor, the Mentor also provides written responses and records these responses directly on the FPR document. It is optional for the Program Coordinator to provide written comments on the FPR. All sections of the FPR must be marked as "complete" before the FPR can be successfully submitted as "completed" to The Ohio Department of Education.
Formative Progress Reviews must be completed by Mid-May and will be reviewed and shared with the Resident Educator Program Coordinator and possibly addditional District Administrators (which may include, but is not limited to: The Human Resources Director, The Superintendent, The Curriculum Director, The Director of Pupil Services, The Director of Special Education and/or Building Principals/Assistant Principals etc...). However, the actual Formative Progress Review Document remains the personal and private property of the Resident Educator. This document may not be photocopied, shared or archived without permission from the Resident Educator. Any permissions granted are strictly voluntary.
The FPR and contents of this portofolio cannot be used for evaluative purposes. However, each Resident Educator has the option to elect to share the FPR and contents of this portfolio with administrators as he/she chooses. Verification of successful completion of the FPR has been recommended in the past by the Ohio Department of Education in order to meet Requirements for Year 2 of the Resident Educator Program. The Formative Progress Review will be reviewed by the Resident Educator, The RE Mentor and the RE Program Coordinator in order to verify that each Resident Educator has successfully completed the Resident Educator Year 2 Requirements. Once the FPR has been completed, shared and reciewed, the Program Coordinator will verify successful completion to ODE and enter this information into CORE. This must be done NO LATER THAN June 30th of each academic year.
Attached, please find the "Authentic Evidence" checklist to complete for the end of Year 1 of Residency. It is recommended that each Resident Educator upload and save several pieces of evidence related to each of the 7 Educator Standards in his/her Taskstream portfolio. (Folders provided for each of the Standards were created for use at the beginning of the year).
This checklist is to be comepleted by the Resident Educator verifying that he/she has uploaded artifacts for each standard throughout the year in Spring.
