Glenn and I went to public schools, but with high standards. Glenn took the train every morning to Bernardsville, and I walked the mile and half to school in Peapack.
I am very thin (knees) in the picture still from California. Later I will gain weight. You can see I am still trying to please everyone so that I will belong to the family. I fear being sent out with my mother again into dire poverty.
During this time I will teach myself several instruments and write a 40 page book (mostly gibberish) trying to fit in with the Habib family.
The house was enormous. I was not accoustmed to such living, I don't think any of us were except Grandma, it was extrordinary.
Later my grandmother and father would be forced to sell for almost nothing.
Glenn moved to Bernardsville school district, at first we did not realize we would be seperated. I think this was harder on me than him, him wanting to be a cool teenager, but I think it was hard for us both having gone through so much.
Glenn was a cool soccer playing teenager that loved disco and feathered his hair and went to a multi-ethnic large high school on the coast. Bernardsville was all white. With a name such as Habib and his brown skin he stuck out.
After having a knife pulled on him once things chilled out.
Ricki rests up after climbing Mt. Rainer.
My favorite story being how they were happened upon by a wolf-pack which tried to pull the human refuse wrapped in their mummy bags off the cliff, and they had to dissuade them.
To my 7-8 year old mind this is the most amazing thing a person can do and I begin trying to read J.R.R. Tolkien to imagine it. I decide 27 is the best age to be.
Rickie gives me a book called the the Rainbow Goblins which is one of the most beautiful texts I have ever seen.
He tells me aas a ship's captain he has seen the place where the rainbow touches the water.
I ask if there is a pot of gold, he doesn't tell.

Having the name Taylor and being young with White skin I do not understand Grandma's concern because Glenn is so likeable and easy going.
Years later I will understand more that some of his colonels' were not kind.
I may have been the one to take the picture with much instruction from Grandpa.
Glenn will later be expulsed from Annapolis due to Rickie taking him out drinking and then beating up several guards to smuggle him back into his room. I forget if any bikers are involved, but Rickie is not blamed and Glenn is.
The two have this animosity about this event up to Rickie's recent wedding.
Ronald Reagan addressed his graduating class and he was in his last year.
Later this would cause a lot of problems iwth getting his engineering degree and on military contracts, in fact Glenn must be accompanied for a long GM/military contract at all times by a guard due to lack of being able to pass a background check.
