Tying Up Loose Ends

Having completed the required research for the Pathways Mellon Research Fellowship, Project Heritage Quilt remains a work in progress. Plans and timelines continue to evolve as does life itself, in perpetual motion, met with new challenges and changes. Project Heritage Quilt was scheduled to be unveiled during Pound Heritage Days, July 8-9, 2022 in Southwest Virginia; my summer pursuit -- to complete the center artwork as well as some unfinished blocks, pulling the whole thing together for the reveal -- delayed. Health and circumstance have hampered those plans, though I am reflecting upon the accomplishments thus far as well as regrouping and adapting to a new timeframe. I am currently hoping for an August, 2022 reveal, though Fall of 2022 may be the more realistic expectation for unveiling. I have been made aware of upcoming opportunities and will continue to work towards the best possible scenario.

It seems somewhat ironic to reflect upon unfinished business, as I ponder the aspects of a legacy-building endeavor; the patchwork of life sometimes dictates the final rendering -- one block, one stitch, one step at a time. In due time, the pieces fall into place, teaching us patience throughout our struggles and rewarding our hard work as we see it through to the end. And, sometimes what one thought to be a fellowship assignment may lead to a new and more beautiful adventure -- chapters yet to be penned -- metaphorically and physically.

Pieces, Parts, and People
