Throughout the journey, Project Heritage Quilt's many facets have exuded personal growth in ways that I never envisioned. Not only did I learn about the general and varied history of my own ancestry, but the personal and intimate histories of the many faces of our people. I stand beyond blessed to have formed new relationships with family and friends that I would undoubtedly never have met had it not been for this amazing opportunity. I have also come to realize, record, and reflect upon the existence of some surprising interpersonal relationships of others through some front porch sittin' chats, quilting circle "gossip," and Fabric House musings -- some serious, some full of belly laughs and slight (or overt) embellishments -- all filled with the spirit and soul of "Our Appalachia."
