REED 420: Assessment for Reading Instruction

Dr. Jodi Welsch (jwelsch@frostburg.edu, 301-687-3096)

During the initial visit, candidates will be required to interview either a mentor teacher/classroom reading teacher OR the school’s reading specialist about the reading assessments used in the classroom or school environment, as part of the School Environment Survey. This interview will be used in a later assignment. During the internship, the candidate will compile a reading assessment notebook, consisting of a variety of reading assessments administered with one selected student in the field classroom. The purpose of this assignment is to develop the candidate’s skills in informal and formal assessment administration and interpretation.

*Information on each of the items above is located in the Internship I handbook.
