The Master of Arts in Teaching - Elementary Education (MAT-E) program is designed for aspiring teachers and career-changers.  Our rigorous one year program (May - May) will provide motivated and qualified individuals the tools and background they need to be successful in the classroom.  This program contains extensive field work in Professional Development School (PDS) settings and anticipates the full-time enrollment of the candidate. 

This program is intended to lead to an initial full Maryland certification in Elementary Education. 

Courses are held at the University System of Maryland Center in downtown Hagerstown, as well as time spent in the community and schools.  Frostburg State University has partnerships with PDS schools in Washington, Frederick, Garrett, Allegany counties in Maryland.
