Roosevelt University specializes in preparing teachers to teach English Language Learners, or students who are learning the English language in addition to a native language. The addition of a Bilingual endorsement to a teaching license is very useful for CPS teachers because approximately 18% of the CPS student population is eligible for bilingual education.
Upon the completion of all of the requirements listed below, you will be eligible to add the Bilingual endorsement to your Illinois Professional Educator License. Teachers who are not able to pass the language proficiency exam that is required for the Bilingual endorsement can earn the English As A Second Language endorsement through the completion of the same courses.

Effective until December 31, 2018, Roosevelt will waive all fees and provide CPS teachers with a 57% tuition reduction on the courses that count toward the Bilingual/ESL endorsement. CPS teachers pay only $360 a credit hour for these courses. The Bilingual/ESL endorsement requires 18 credit hours, and therefore the total cost of the endorsement for CPS teachers is $6,480. This is the total cost of this non-degree program.
