Leadership Scholar Retreat - Saturday February 4th, 2017 - 10:00AM - 1:00PM
Through conversations with Laura and Maddy, my first two friends here at IC, we decided that participating in a retreat would be a lot of fun and slightly nostalgic. We arrived at Cornell and took a long elevator ride to the top of a beautiful art museum, only to arrive in a private room with a beautiful view. With the setting perfect, we then had the privilege of hearing two guest speakers, then we moved to an activity about our hopes and desires. Throughout the whole event I felt empowered, ready to take on something much larger than myself. Towards the end there was one specific activity that truly touched my heart. We were instructed to go to a specific website, in which we wrote letters to our selves, which would be delivered on the desired date, I choose graduation. In this letter I reflected on the people around me, and the level of empowerment I felt with them being there. I mention Maddy and Laura, and remind myself that although they may not be that super duper best friend, they will always be there along the way, so on graduation, when it may feel like the end of the world, I know I will have them to support me though all my endeavors.
