9/7/16-Our first homework assignment is to read through the Language Arts syllabus and have it signed by a parent/guardian by tomorrow!

9/13/16-Tonight, you are going to complete the writing prompt: "Is it important to think before you speak? Why or why not? Explain." This is only ONE PARAGRAPH. 

9/16/16-NO H.W.

9/19/16-Hi all, so here is a list of what I am looking for within the next week (and next Monday.) 

              1) The list of vocabulary words that is taped into your agenda needs to be defined on your K.I.M sheet packets by WED. ***We will be doing the Latin and Greek roots together in class!!!

              2) On the very last page of your K.I.M Vocab sheet, you will find the Spelling Practice Worksheet where you will write each of your vocab words down 5 times each-DUE THURS.

              3) Your vocab and spelling quiz will be next Monday 9/26 due to the fact that we will not have school on Friday (Vocab quiz is typically going to be on Fridays.) 

 9/27/16-  K.I.M. Vocab is Due tomorrow, Spelling Practice Thursday, and you have your second vocab quiz on Friday.

10/4/16- 1) If you did not get your quiz signed, you need to have a parent or guardian sign it by tomorrow. 

               2) Your K.I.M. packet is due tomorrow (WED)

               3) Your spelling practice sheet is due on Thursday

               4) Your vocab quiz for this week's words is THIS FRIDAY! (10/7)

10/18/16- The first draft of the letter to your pen pal is going to be due on Wednesday 10/19.

                 The final draft of your letter is going to be this Friday, 10/21!

11/1/16- Happy November!

               This week, you will be completing a free-write or respond to one of the prompts on the "Free-Write/Prompt Week" handout I passed out yesterday (Mon.) You should write for a total of 15-20 mins. There is no minimum or maximum to how much you should be writing, but your effort will be noted! You will write on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

11/2/16- Your third free-write/ prompt is what you should work on tonight. This will be due tomorrow (Thurs.) 

11/9/16- Tonight, you are going to create a short story about the drawing assignment you created on Monday. Last night, you should have completed your "My Story Graphic Organizer" on the back of the "Elements of a story sheet." You are going to take what you have written on your outline and create the story. This is going to be our first draft, so it obviously does not need to be flawless.

12/13/16-

1) For those of you who missed the due date for the final Fish in a Tree project (that was today, Tuesday, December 13), you need to bring in all completed items by tomorrow. 

2) If you received a missing work slip from me, I need that to be signed by a parent/guardian. The last day I will accept any missing work is this Thursday. 

12/14/16-

1) Get your vocab quiz signed. 

2) "I Am" poem due Friday

3) Any missing work work is due by Thursday

1/2/17-

Tonight, you need to study the first column of the spelling bee list. 

1/3/17-

Study the second column of your spelling bee words.

The final, typed draft of your "I am" poems is due Thursday.

Figurative Language Worksheet due on Thursday. 

1/9/17

1) Study your spelling bee list...The in-class spelling bee will be on Wednesday.

2) Get your final Fish in a Tree project sheet signed. 

3) The second draft of your concrete poem is due Wednesday. This is where you are looking at your "Poem Graphic Organizer" and beginning to turn your topic into the image you wrote on the web about. For example: If you chose a cupacke, then you will take the words of the poem and turn it into a cupcake. NOTE: THIS IS NOT YOUR FINAL DRAFT!

1/12/17-

Tonight you are going to do a drawing prompt where you must do the following:

1) Draw a picture of the topic of choice.

2) Write a story using that object. REMEMBER stories have a beginning, middle and an ending with characters, a setting, and action! Be creative. 

Your choices for the story are: A Dungeon, or a bumper sticker! 

1/19/17-

By tomorrow, you should have the final draft of your Concrete Poem completed. Remember, you should have a total of three versions of this. 

1/25/17-

2) Go on Quizlet and Study for 10 mins. (if you don't have access to a computer/tablet, please study the spelling of your words) 

 Study your words on Quizlet for 10 mins.

Step 4: You should be on the main webpage of Quizlet. GO TO THE SEARCH BAR (MAGNIFYING GLASS) and type in "Ashley_Vanat" 

Step 5: Click on 6th Grade Language Arts Wk. 1/23 and practice the words for 10 mins

Tonight, you are to write down all the things that you have learned about Ancient Rome so far this is due Friday because we have testing during our L.A. class tomorrow (2/2)

5/4/17-Tonight you are to write 5-8 sentences about your favorite character so far in the plays we have read about "The Iliad."
