Hello Students, Parents and Guardians! 

9/7/16-Our first assignment is to read through your child's Language Arts syllabus and sign the attached sheet by tomorrow.

9/13/16-Tonight, I would like for you to read over your first assignment, the Alphabiography project. BY THURSDAY, you are going to have brainstormed at least 10 of your entries.

9/16/16-For this weekend, I want you to add at least two more letters to your Alphabiography, so you should have 12 total by Monday.

9/19/16-Hi all, so here is a list of what I am looking for within the next week (and next Monday.) 

              1) The list of vocabulary words that is taped into your agenda needs to be defined on your K.I.M sheet packets by WED. ***We will be doing the Latin and Greek roots together in class!!!

              2) On the very last page of your K.I.M Vocab sheet, you will find the Spelling Practice Worksheet where you will write each of your vocab words down 5 times each-DUE THURS.

              3) Your vocab and spelling quiz will be next Monday 9/26 due to the fact that we will not have school on Friday (Vocab quiz is typically going to be on Fridays.) 

              4) The final draft of your ALPHABIOGRAPHY IS DUE ON TUESDAY 9/27 by 8 p.m. 

9/27/16- 1) YOUR ALPHABIOGRAPHY NEEDS TO BE SENT TO ME @ avanat@sfnh.org BY 8 P.M.

10/18/16- Tonight, for homework, you are to continue writing the draft for your business letter. REMEBER!!! You are writing this so that you may be approved by the bank (THAT'S ME!) The draft is due by tomorrow at the beginning of class. 

                The final draft of the letter is going to be due on Friday.

11/9/16- Tonight, you are finishing your "My Presentation Outline." Remember you MUST be ready to present by tomorrow. I am selecting randomly.

4) If you got a missing work slip with your name on it, the latest I will accept any missing work is Thursday, and that slip  needs to be signed by a parent or guardian.

Tonight, you need to study the first column of your spelling bee list. 

Also, your 3rd poem draft for your Poetry Collection is due on Wed. This is for the lyrical poem.

Here is the down low on Shakesperian sonnets:

They have 14 lines, a very particular rhyme scheme that goes like this

So, every other line rhymes, except for the last two (the g,g) that is a couplet.

You do not have to use this for your lyric poem, (DUE TOMORROW) but a sonnet is a great example. You have your copy of "Shall I Compare Thee To a Summer's Day" (Sonnet 18). 

A lyric poem should be musical and have some particular rhymes within in it. Good luck. 

Also, study the second column of your Spelling Bee list!

Tonight you need to read the article "Everybody’s Talking About Plagiarism. What Is It, Exactly?" This can be found on the following link http://www.chronicle.com/blogs/ticker/everybodys-talking-about-plagiarism-what-is-it-exactly/112921. Read the article and respond to the questions.

By tomorrow, you should have a colored drawing of either a castle or a gecko, or both. There should also be a good story that goes along with the drawing as well. 

Also, I want you to finish the Nonsense Words grid by tomorrow. 

1/25/17-

Step 4: You should be on the main webpage of Quizlet. GO TO THE SEARCH BAR (MAGNIFYING GLASS) and type in "Ashley_Vanat" 

Step 5: Click on 8th Grade Language Arts Wk. 1/23 and practice the words for 10 mins

3) Get your Poetry Collection Sheet Signed.

Please read over the edits I made on your first draft of the "Dr. Heidegger's Experiment" Re-Write. Your final draft is due on Friday.

Finish Reading Chapter 1 of Animal Farm and answer the 10 questions on the Chapter 1 sheet by Thurs. 

3/16/17- Read Chapter 2 by Monday.

Tonight, you are to read chapter 5 of "Animal Farm," and complete the next page of your Novel Study packet by tomorrow. (You should have one done for ch. 4 and tonight will be chapter 5.) 

3/28/17- 

Please read chapter 6 of "Animal Farm" tonight. You do not need to do a new sheet in your Novel Study packet.

 4/10/17-

Today, I introduced Part II of your "Animal Farm," final project, the essay portion. There are four choices for the essay, you must choose 1. The "Thesis Essay Organizer" is going to be due on Friday (4/14). The whole project (canvas and essay is going to be due on Tuesday 4/18).

 4/17/17-

Your Animal Farm paper is due tomorrow!!!

5/4/17-

Your entire 1960s projet is due Monday5/8/17.

5/11/17-Tonight you need to read and respond/highlight important moments from part I of J.F.K.'s innagural address.
