Language Arts

Context: 

This lesson plan was developed in the Language Arts class where I was student teaching in the fall of 2009 at Oxford Elementary.

Impact:

This actvivity was great.  It showed me what I could do with technology as well as keeping the students interested in what they were learning.

Alignment:

Standard 6: Elementary teachers have an understanding of the basic concepts of the arts.

Indicator 1: Teachers understand the basic vocabularies, materials, techniques, and thinking processes of each arts discipline (art, music, theatre, dance).

Indicator 2: Teachers have an informed acquaintance with exemplary works of art from a variety of cultures and historical periods.

Indicators 1 and 2 were met for standard 6 becasue we had the students ead about the myths and then had them perform the myths for the class.  As they learned about the Greeks they learned about the arts of the time period and dressed in togas as they performed their myths.  Each group made their own props and explained why they needed certain props.
