Design and Impact Project

Context:

This Design and IMpact Project was created during my student teaching semester in the fall of 2009 under the supervision of my supervisor James Bradshaw.  This design and impact project was creted as a way fo me to learn how to write lesson plans.

Impact:

While doing this project I improved my planning skills and learned how to deal with interuptions and times lines.  I did a unit lesson plan where I had to teach Math Goal 5 to the sixth graders in the class room.  It was quite an experience especially when we had the highest leveled students then the lowest leveled students.  Modifying for the groups took some planning and I am so glad that I got to work with these students.

Alignment:

Standard 2: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts in mathematics.

Indicator 1: Teachers have knowledge of number sense, numeration, and numerical operation. Teachers:

Details:  Apply four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with symbols and variables to solve problems and to model, explain, and develop computational algorithms.

This standard was met threw the different math assignments that I gave to the students as we progressed into the year.  They learned the Different Number Operations, Order of Operations, and writing and solving equations.
